Corrections and Retractions

Corrections and Retractions

International Journal of Agricultural Research and Multidisciplinary Research Trends (IJARMRT) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record. When errors or serious issues are identified in a published article, the journal may publish a Correction or Retraction Notice as appropriate.

Corrections and retractions are handled carefully by the editorial team to ensure that the published scholarly record remains as accurate and transparent as reasonably possible.

1. Corrections (Errata)

Corrections are issued when a published article contains errors that do not alter the overall results, interpretations, or conclusions, but require clarification or amendment to maintain the accuracy of the scholarly record.

Examples of Corrections

  • Minor typographical or formatting errors.
  • Corrections to the spelling of an author's name.
  • Incorrect figure, table, or section labels.
  • Other factual or editorial errors that do not materially affect the findings or conclusions of the article.

2. Correction Process

Corrections may be identified by authors, readers, reviewers, editors, or other appropriate sources.

  1. Authors or readers notify the editorial office about the suspected error.
  2. The editorial team assesses the reported issue and determines whether a correction is appropriate.
  3. Where necessary, the editors may seek clarification or supporting information from the authors.
  4. If a correction is warranted, IJARMRT publishes a Correction Notice linked to the original article.
  5. The original article generally remains unchanged, except for an appropriate reference or footnote indicating that a correction has been issued.

3. Retractions

A retraction may be issued when a published article contains serious errors, unreliable findings, or ethical concerns that substantially affect the validity, reliability, or integrity of the published work.

Examples of Reasons for Retraction

  • Data fabrication or falsification.
  • Plagiarism or substantial unattributed use of another person's work.
  • Duplicate or redundant publication.
  • Serious ethical violations.
  • Lack of required ethical or institutional approval where applicable.
  • Absence of required informed consent where applicable.
  • Major errors that invalidate the findings or conclusions.
  • Other serious concerns that materially affect the reliability of the published article.

4. Retraction Process

Retraction procedures are initiated when the editorial team becomes aware of credible concerns regarding the validity, originality, ethics, or integrity of a published article.

  1. An editorial investigation may be initiated following a complaint, report, or identification of a serious issue.
  2. The authors may be contacted and given an opportunity to provide an explanation, evidence, or response to the concerns.
  3. Where appropriate, the journal may seek information from relevant institutions or other responsible parties.
  4. The editorial team evaluates the available information and determines whether retraction is warranted.
  5. If retraction is warranted, a Retraction Notice is published and linked to the original article.
  6. The Retraction Notice clearly identifies the article and explains the reason or reasons for the retraction.

5. Status of a Retracted Article

A retracted article will be clearly identified as “Retracted” in the journal's online publication record. The original article may remain accessible as part of the scholarly record, but the retraction status will be clearly displayed to prevent readers from treating the article as a valid, unretracted publication.

The Retraction Notice will remain permanently linked to the affected article wherever reasonably possible so that readers, researchers, and indexing services can identify the article's current publication status.

6. Who May Report an Error or Concern?

Corrections or potential integrity concerns may be brought to the attention of the editorial office by authors, readers, reviewers, editors, institutions, or other individuals with relevant and credible information.

Reports should contain sufficient information to allow the editorial team to assess the matter appropriately.

7. Editorial Assessment

Decisions regarding corrections and retractions are made by the journal's editorial team after considering the available evidence and the nature and significance of the reported issue.

The journal aims to handle such matters fairly, objectively, and transparently while maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record and allowing appropriate opportunities for authors to respond.
