AI Policy

🤖 AI Policy

The International Journal of Agricultural Research and Multidisciplinary Research Trends (IJARMRT), published by Dupar Publications, recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI), generative AI, and machine learning in scholarly research and academic publishing.

AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and other generative AI applications may provide useful assistance in certain aspects of manuscript preparation and research. However, their use must remain transparent, responsible, ethical, and consistent with accepted standards of academic integrity.

This policy establishes the principles governing the use of AI tools by authors, reviewers, and editorial staff of IJARMRT. The objective is to encourage responsible use of emerging technologies while protecting originality, transparency, confidentiality, research integrity, and accountability.

✍️ 1. Use of AI Tools by Authors

Authors may use AI tools to assist with certain aspects of manuscript preparation, provided that such use is transparent, responsible, and ethical.

Appropriate uses may include:

  • Grammar and spelling improvement.
  • Language editing and readability improvement.
  • Translation assistance.
  • Formatting assistance.
  • Reference formatting and organization.
  • Limited coding or technical assistance, where appropriately verified.
  • Other non-substantive editorial support.

AI tools must not replace the authors' original scientific thinking, research methodology, interpretation of results, critical analysis, or scholarly judgment. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and final content of their manuscripts.

🚫 2. AI Tools Cannot Be Authors

Artificial intelligence tools, generative AI systems, chatbots, or other software applications cannot be listed as authors or co-authors of a manuscript published by IJARMRT.

Authorship requires intellectual contribution, accountability, responsibility for the work, and the ability to approve the final manuscript. AI systems cannot meet these requirements.

All listed authors must be human individuals who satisfy the applicable authorship requirements and accept responsibility for the published work.

📝 3. Disclosure of AI Use

Authors should disclose the use of generative AI or other AI tools when such tools have contributed materially to the preparation, analysis, generation, translation, editing, coding, visualization, or other aspects of the manuscript.

The disclosure should identify, where applicable:

  • Name of the AI tool or system.
  • Version or model used, where available.
  • Date or period of use, where relevant.
  • Purpose for which the AI tool was used.
  • The extent of the AI tool's contribution.

Where appropriate, the disclosure should be included in the Acknowledgements or another suitable section of the manuscript according to the journal's submission requirements.

💡 4. Example of AI Disclosure

Authors may use a statement such as:

"The author(s) used an artificial intelligence tool to assist with language editing and refinement of the manuscript. All AI-assisted outputs were reviewed, verified, and approved by the author(s), who remain fully responsible for the final content of the article."

🛡️ 5. Author Responsibility and Accountability

Authors are solely responsible for the accuracy, originality, reliability, and integrity of their submitted and published work, regardless of whether AI tools were used during manuscript preparation.

Authors must carefully review and verify all AI-assisted outputs before submitting a manuscript to IJARMRT.

  • Verify all factual and scientific claims.
  • Verify all references and citations.
  • Check that references actually exist and support the stated claims.
  • Verify data, calculations, tables, figures, and statistical information.
  • Ensure that AI-generated content does not contain plagiarism or inappropriate copying.
  • Check for misleading, fabricated, biased, or inaccurate information.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable research and publication ethics.

⚠️ 6. AI-Generated Content

Authors must not present AI-generated text, data, references, images, results, interpretations, or other materials as independently produced original research without appropriate human verification and disclosure where required.

AI-generated references, quotations, data, or scientific claims must be independently checked by the authors. Fabricated or unverifiable information generated by AI is not acceptable in a scholarly manuscript.

The use of AI does not transfer responsibility for the manuscript from the authors to the AI system.

🔐 7. Use of AI in Peer Review

Peer reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts, review materials, unpublished data, and information provided to them during the peer-review process.

Reviewers must not upload, paste, submit, or otherwise disclose confidential manuscript content to publicly accessible AI platforms or generative AI tools without explicit authorization from the journal and appropriate safeguards.

Reviewers must not rely on AI systems to independently generate or determine the substantive recommendation for acceptance, revision, or rejection.

If AI tools are used for permitted non-substantive assistance, reviewers remain fully responsible for the confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of their review.

🧑‍💼 8. Editorial Use of AI

IJARMRT editorial staff may use appropriate AI-assisted technologies for limited administrative, technical, or non-substantive tasks where confidentiality and data-protection requirements are maintained.

Examples may include language assistance, formatting checks, workflow support, metadata organization, or other administrative functions.

AI tools will not independently determine whether a manuscript should be accepted, rejected, retracted, or otherwise subjected to a substantive editorial decision. Final editorial decisions remain the responsibility of qualified human editors.

⚖️ 9. Bias, Accuracy and Ethical Considerations

AI-generated outputs may contain factual errors, bias, fabricated information, inappropriate language, or other limitations. Authors, reviewers, and editors must therefore exercise appropriate human judgment when using AI-assisted tools.

AI use must not compromise academic integrity, research ethics, confidentiality, intellectual property, privacy, or the fair treatment of authors and reviewers.

Authors are encouraged to critically evaluate AI-generated material rather than accepting such material without verification.

🚨 10. Violations and Editorial Action

Failure to appropriately disclose material AI use, fabrication of information using AI, submission of misleading AI-generated content, or other inappropriate use of AI may constitute a breach of publication ethics.

Depending on the nature and seriousness of the violation, IJARMRT may take appropriate editorial action, including:

  1. Request clarification or additional information from the authors.
  2. Request revision or correction of the manuscript.
  3. Reject the manuscript during the editorial or peer-review process.
  4. Publish a correction or editorial notice after publication.
  5. Retract a published article where serious ethical concerns are established.
  6. Refer the matter to the author's affiliated institution or relevant authority, where appropriate.

🔍 11. AI and Plagiarism

The use of an AI tool does not exempt authors from the journal's plagiarism, originality, copyright, or academic-integrity requirements.

Authors remain responsible for ensuring that their manuscript is original and properly acknowledges all sources. AI-assisted writing that results in plagiarism, unattributed copying, or inappropriate reuse of copyrighted material may be subject to the journal's plagiarism and publication-ethics policies.

👤 12. Human Oversight

Human authors, reviewers, and editors remain responsible for all scholarly judgments and decisions. AI tools are considered assistive technologies and cannot replace human accountability.

The final responsibility for the manuscript, peer-review report, editorial assessment, and published scholarly record remains with the relevant human participants in the publishing process.

🔄 13. Policy Review and Updates

This AI Policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect developments in artificial intelligence, scholarly publishing, research ethics, privacy, intellectual property, and recognized publishing standards.

IJARMRT reserves the right to revise this policy when necessary to support responsible technological innovation while protecting the quality and integrity of scholarly communication.
