Abstract
Introduction deals with the conceptual framework of Library and Information Science, Knowledge Organization. It emphasizes how and why Library and Information Science is supposed to be a subject of educational curriculum. It also deals with the developmental pattern of Library and Information Science education in India and specifies the role and contribution of various institutions and university along with contributions of library associations in the field of LIS education.
